ABOUT SUE
I have always had the comfort and security of knowing that I can explore my own world of imagination and turn it into reality with drawings, paintings and sculpture. Also, I felt the need to open other people up to being able to do the same. I’ve enjoyed teaching others how to attempt this discovery, and many past successes, such as students going onto a creative way of life, have encouraged me. Now I have almost reached the age of 80 I realise it is exactly the time to carryout my own deeper and real ideas, and my latest collection of sculpture, culminating in the opportunity to do more in ‘lockdown’. The more I create, the more comes to my consciousness from where? (the unconscious?). Sue Groom, 16/06/2020
“Throughout her professional life Sue Groom has mostly worked on commission, painting portraits and murals, and making varied sculpture. She has now begun to work for herself and this collection shows the results. In fact, her many murals in particular always had a distinctive and charming element of imagination. But the work here is more personal. Also, it is sculpture, always her first love. Sue Groom’s recent sculpture is rich in imagery, material and meaning. She is taking on a new lease of life.” Simon Wilson O.B.E, Art Historian and columnist for RA Magazine
